Meta Tag Maker Tool

The Meta Tag Maker Tool will generate the source code for a Web page's title and meta tags based on your entires in the form below. You can choose some or all of the tags below, but we recommend you at least include the "keywords" and "description" tags for any page you want search engines to list. When you've made all your selections, click on SHOW to display your code in the textbox at the bottom of the form. You can click on RESET to clear the form and start over.

Description:     The "description" meta tag provides a brief description of the Web page and its contents (it's a good idea to include your keywords in the description). Most search engines use the description to index and categorize your Web page, so you should include a description for any Web page you want the search engines to index. Type a short description in the textbox below.

Keywords:     "Keywords" are the words and phrases a search engine user would be likely to enter as search terms when searching for a site like yours. Type your keywords/keyphrases in the textbox below.

Author:     The "author" meta tag identifies the author of a Web page. Type the author's name in the textbox below.

Copyright:     The "copyright" meta tag contains information about who holds the copyright to the Web page. Enter a short copyright notice in the textbox below.

Robots:     This tag provides instructions to Web bots (such as search engines' "spiders") about indexing your page. You can use one or both of the instructions within the tag ("index" or "noindex", and "follow" or "nofollow").

"Index" tells the robot to "read" the page and save information about it. "Noindex" tells the robot not to read the page for the purpose of indexing it. If you have some Web pages you don't want indexed by search engines you can use this tag to indicate your preference. Choose one from the drop-down list below (select "index" if you want search engine robots to index the page and select "noindex" if you do not).

        Index?

"Follow" tells the robot that you want it to follow links found on the page and visit the pages they link to. "Nofollow" tells the robot not to follow any links from your page to other pages they link to. Generally you'll want your links followed so the robot will visit other pages on your site and index them, but if you have a page with links to other peoples' websites, you won't want to send the robot there. Choose one from the drop-down list below (select "follow" if you want search engine robots to follow links on the page and select "noindex" if you do not).

        Follow?

Refresh:     The "refresh" tag instructs the browser to "refresh" the page by reloading the same page or loading a new page after a specified number of seconds. You can use it to automatically redirect the user to a new Web page after a specified number of seconds. You could also use it to reload the same page peridodically (e.g., to display an updated version of your page every 30 seconds). This is useful if your page content changes frequently and you want to make sure the viewer is seeing the most recent version.

After how many seconds should the page be refreshed?   (Only make an entry if you want the page to be automatically refreshed - enter "0" if you want the user to be redirected to some other URL immediately after the page has loaded.)

        Refresh in     seconds

What URL do you want displayed when the page is refreshed? (If you want to redirect the user to a different page, enter the complete URL, including "http://", in this field. If you simply want the browser to reload the same page after a certain amount of time, leave this field blank.)

        URL:

No-cache:     You can use the "no-cache" meta tag to stop the user's system from caching (storing) a Web page. Why would you want to keep a page from being cached? If a page is updated frequently and you always want your visitors to see the most recent verion, you want them to load the page from the server each time rather than viewing a previously saved version.

No-cache:     (check this box to use the no-cache tag)

Rating:     The "rating" meta tag provides a content rating that indicates whether the page's content is suitable for general audiences (similar to the rating system for computer games). Some kid-safe filters block pages without a suitable rating. The possible ratings are "general", "mature", "restricted", and "14 years". Select a rating from the drop-down list below.
